Learning

A.B.L.E. Kids NJ provides education and training for parents, caregivers, and educators to better understand and support children with autism. Whether you need one-on-one guidance or your school district is looking for professional development, we have a program for you.

Individual Family Training

Every child with autism is unique, and what works for one family may not work for another. Our individual family training sessions give your family personalized, private guidance tailored to your child and your home life.

We work directly with your family in private sessions to build practical skills everyone can use every day. Whether it is parents, grandparents, siblings, or other caregivers involved in your child’s life, we welcome the whole family to participate so that everyone is on the same page.

Topics we cover include:

  • Understanding and responding to behavioral concerns
  • Building daily routines that reduce stress and increase cooperation
  • Strategies to help your child develop greater independence
  • Communication techniques for non-verbal or limited-verbal children
  • Managing meltdowns and sensory overload at home and in public

Sessions are scheduled at your convenience and can be conducted in person or virtually.

Why Family Training?

Group settings are valuable, but sometimes your family needs strategies that are specific to your child’s behaviors, your home environment, and your daily life together.

Family training allows us to:

  • Observe and address your specific challenges
  • Move at your family’s pace without pressure
  • Create a personalized action plan that works for your whole household

“Your whole family is part of the team. We’re here to walk alongside all of you.”

The Power of Community

Raising a child with autism can feel isolating. Group trainings bring parents and caregivers together to learn, share, and support one another.

Participants consistently tell us that the connections they make in group sessions are just as valuable as the skills they learn.

“Hearing from other parents who truly understand what you’re going through changes everything.”

Group Parent Training

Our group training sessions bring parents and caregivers together in a supportive, small-group setting to learn from our team and from each other.

These sessions cover the same core topics as our individual training but add the benefit of shared experience. You’ll hear how other families handle similar challenges and build a network of people who understand what you’re going through.

What to expect:

  • Small group sizes for meaningful interaction
  • Practical strategies for managing behavioral concerns
  • Techniques to encourage independence in daily living skills
  • Guided discussions and real-world problem solving
  • Take-home resources and follow-up support

Group sessions are offered on a regular schedule. Contact us to find out when the next session begins.
